Yes, I know..the two most important elections have been won-there is now a workable Senate majority, and Barack Obama is now President as of January 20th, 2009. THAT is the good news. However, Prop 8 passed.
Now, I'm sorry-but it's time to say this. The Human Rights Campaign and Equality California are INEPT and INCOMPETENT. The country has gotten rid of inept and incompetent "leadership" in the White House and Congress. It's high time the Gay and Lesbian movement did the same thing and got rid of HRC. I hate to say this. I've given HRC money at Pride for the last four years-but this last Pride in May (I live in Long Beach, CA) will be the last time HRC will even get $30 from me. They've fucked this up for us for the last time.
What's needed is a new LGBT movement of moderates. Now, the liberals have their organizations-moderates need to have ours. We are the only ones who can make the argument for civil unions/marriage for gay people. The lefties can't do it because they are too inept.
That's why I've decided to start this blog-we need to start some brainstorming, and this is a good place to do it. So, any ideas? I believe we have a great model: The Obama campaign.
